David Millington, PhD is a professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Medical Genetics Division and co-director of the Biochemical Genetics Laboratory and Mass Spectrometry Facility at Duke University Medical Center. His expertise in metabolic profiling and broad experience with the development and application of novel clinical diagnostic tests and biomarker assays using mass spectrometry techniques, particularly tandem mass spectrometry, has made him invaluable to the growth of the Stedman Center. He has collaborated with Dr. Christopher Newgard to establish the research-dedicated mass spectrometry laboratory within the Stedman Center, which is part of its current Metabolomics/Biomarker core laboratory. His research is funded mostly from industrial sources, including Genzyme Corporation and GlaxoSmithKline. Dr Millington has published widely in the field of biochemical genetics and his current interests besides his work at the center include the development of biomarker assays for lysosomal storage disorders.
